If this doesn’t get you excited then nothing will. Do you know that it is possible to get free advertising for your business? Yes you have heard it right you can get free advertising. I am not speaking about the overused advertising tactics such as Craiglist or social bookmarking but of some genuine, effective and tried free advertising methods that will bring traffic to your website.

Free advertising is all about promoting your product without spending a dime. If you are an entrepreneur you will surely agree with me that advertising is one of, if not, the most important expense that you will have to deal with. With free advertising you will not have to spend thousands of dollars on marketing campaigns that you don’t even know whether will succeed or not.

First idea to try: CROSS SELLING

One good example of free website advertising is cross selling. Suppose you are selling new software for burning DVD. You might team up with a DVD writer vendor and offer to sell your software on their site. For instance you can ask the vendor to place a special link in their order page for your product or even an ad in their thank you email. In this way you will be benefiting from all the advertising campaigns that will be done by the hardware manufacturer and promoting your product at no cost.

Why will those companies allow you to do so?

There are multiple benefits that the companies will be deriving. First of all they will be increasing their sales figure. By selling an additional product or service they will be getting some additional profit from a single customer thus optimizing their return on investment as far as advertising is concerned. In our current competitive world companies are always on the look for some additional ways to increase their income and this is just what you will be offering them. Just make sure that the commission that you will be offering them is attractive enough.

The calculation for FREE advertising

Remember that you will be paying the commission from the sales that you will be making. Sometimes people fail to understand this and think that in free advertising you should not be spending anything. Let’s do a quick math to illustrate this. If you are selling your software at $30 and you are giving $25 in commission you will be having a profit of $5. Although this does not seem much you should clearly see the long term potential.

You have acquired new customers that will give you opportunity for repeat business.

In other words you will be getting all these advertisements free. No more money to be spent on radio, TV, billboard or Internet and even some advertising medium that you would have never dreamt of using.
